Combinations...that's the secret to success. Creating new and adventurous combinations...
Even the best food in the dining facility will drive someone mad with the repetitious menu, week after week. It is a simple man that takes what he's given off the line- no vision, no creativity, no adventure. There are enough 'a la carte' items, condiments and accessories on the salad and sandwich line, that anything less is unacceptable.
Some of my new favorite snacks:
Apples and Peanut Butter- best after a workout.
Fresh sliced mushrooms and grated cheese from the salad bar- throw THAT in the microwave for a few seconds. Saw this one from a Romanian soldier. She was in front of me in line and I was initially dumbfounded at how many mushrooms she could pile on her plate...then came the cheese and I knew where she was going with it. (I added olives, just to be unique)
I slice my own fruit salads: Apples, pears, grapes, peaches, oranges, kiwi, and banana- depending on availability, of course. Top that with the Puddin' and call it good.
Puddin' goes with everything...soft baked oatmeal and raisin cookies, pie slices, fruit....endless horizons.
Yes, when life is repetitious, you have to find joy in the simple achievements...even the small hills are worth climbing.
